The Rona Tranby Trust (RTT) has provided Awards to 12 descendants of WW1 Indigenous soldiers to
record the stories of their ancestors.

The RTT will also support the descendants’ travel to Be’er Sheva, Israel to take part in the Australian
Government ANZAC National Service on 31st October 2017 to commemorate the
Centenary of the Battle of Be’er Sheva and the Sinai-Palestine Campaign.

The RTT Australian Light Horse Project is a unique & exciting project
that we hope will make a significant contribution to the commemoration events at Be’er Sheva,
to the historical & cultural record of WW1 and to Reconciliation in Australia.

We thank our generous sponsors including Australian Departments of Veterans’ Affairs and Social
Services, Deidre Bear, ECAJ Centenary of Anzac Planning Committee, Roland Gridiger, Jewish National
Fund Australia, Judith Kaye, Sylvia Leeser, NSW Jewish Board of Deputies, NSW Jewish War Memorial
Pratt Foundation, Schoulal Family, Jillian Segal & John Roth, and Tranby National Indigenous Adult
Education and Training.

The Rona Tranby Trust has been supporting the recording & preservation of
Indigenous Australian oral history since 1991.
